Why did my homemade marinated mozzarella harden in the refrigerator? And is it safe to consume? : AskCulinary
I like marinated mozzarella warmed on bread, and I had some contemporary ovoline in the refrigerator packed in water. I tired it, sliced it and put it in a jar with olive oil and spices in the refrigerator about 2 days in the past.
Today, I grabbed it from the refrigerator and spotted that the olive oil has “hardened” right into a ghee-like texture, as a substitute of staying “oily” like it does once I purchase industrial marinated mozzarella. Everything else appeared high quality, I took out a couple of slices and toasted it in the microwave and the oil “melted” again into oil and the whole thing smelled and tasted k.
So…what is going on right here? And can I nonetheless consume these things?
