Meghan Markle & Prince Harry May Have Royal Titles Stripped
As if Meghan Markle and Prince Harry haven’t handled sufficient negativity and backlash since…endlessly, a council within the U.Ok. is about to discuss stripping them in their “Duke and Duchess of Sussex” titles. If Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s royal titles are stripped, we can march around the pond ourselves! But it kind of feels not going.
A person in East Sussex began a petition to remove the Sussexes’ titles. It now has three,881 signatures, and it is going to be introduced to the Brighton and Hove City Council at their Dec. 19 assembly. Note that this council can’t in fact take away Meghan and Harry’s royal titles, as they don’t have the facility to take action—best the Queen may give royal titles, and best the Queen can take them away. (Princess Diana, for instance, used to be stripped of the “Her Royal Highness” name after divorcing Prince Charles.) Nonetheless, the petitioners need the council to forestall calling Meghan and Harry by means of their royal titles in Brighton and Hove, and forestall treating them like royalty normally.
The petition reads: “We the undersigned petition Brighton & Hove Council to reject the usage of the titles “Duke of Sussex” and “Duchess of Sussex” by means of the people Henry (“Harry”) Windsor and Rachel Meghan Markle as morally improper and disrespectful to the county of East Sussex. As citizens of Brighton and Hove we name on Brighton and Hove Council not to refer to those people by means of such titles which we consider to be fully non democratic and symbolic of the oppression of most people by means of the rich elite. Neither will Brighton Council invite or entertain those people nor find the money for them any hospitality or courtesies above and past that of an strange member of the general public.”
It’s not going that the council will take the petition significantly, as a result of once more, they may be able to’t truly take the ones titles away. The Queen gave Meghan and Harry the titles on their wedding ceremony day and has no explanation why to strip them. Guess we received’t need to march around the pond in any case.
